CMS was founded by its current Managing Director, Norman Hughes, in January 2003.
Norman’s general insurance career began in 1981 as a graduate trainee with Cornhill. After 7 years in commercial underwriting he joined a South London broking firm as its general insurance director. The new role encompassed marketing, business development, the operation of binding authorities, control of broking operations and, latterly, acquisitions. When the firm was itself acquired in 1997 by Stuart Alexander Ltd, Norman was offered a position by the new owner in its City office, eventually becoming a main board director. Whilst at Stuart Alexander his achievements included the creation and
re-negotiation of schemes business, the implementation of
a new HR management system, several business reorganisations, the integration of personnel from acquired businesses and the implementation of GISC compliance.
Norman left Stuart Alexander in 2003 to set up his own consultancy business to help other firms in the run-up to statutory regulation and to share his extensive knowledge
of industry best practice. [back]
